May 4, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release
Planning early is part of the fun in the Harry Potter craze.
So grab your broomstick and wand and head on out to the New Haven County Cutters baseball game Friday, July 15, to celebrate the release of the newest Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The Cutters will host the New Jersey Jackals in a Can-Am league game at 7:05.
R.J. Julia Booksellers of Madison will have 500 copies of J.K. Rowling's sixth Harry Potter book on sale at the stroke of midnight, which is the first moment the book is available to the public. Harry Potter fans who are anxious to be the first to get their hands on a copy will have their chance by attending the Cutters game.
The ballpark will be transformed into a Hogwarts School atmosphere, while staff will be dressed as Hogwarts students and professors. All fans are encouraged to come in costume. Throughout the evening, fans will be treated to broomstick races, Harry Potter trivia, jelly bean contests, and more.
After the Cutters game, there will be more entertainment to keep fans busy as they eagerly await midnight. All kids will be invited to participate in a Quidditch match that will be set-up in the outfield.
"We are so happy that R.J. Julia's agreed to make the first copies of the book available to our fans," said Cutters General Manager Marie Heikkinen Webb. "The Harry Potter craze is amazing, and the party at the ballpark will be like no other!"
"I don't know which character I'll choose this year," Ms. Webb joked. "I dressed up as Hermione when the fifth book was released, but now it's probably more appropriate for me to be Professor McGonagall.
Fans will need a ticket to the game to be admitted. Tickets start at only $6 and single or group tickets can be purchased online at www.cuttersbaseball.com, by calling 203-777-5636 or stopping by the Yale Field office, 252 Derby Avenue, West Haven.
