Cutters Looking for National Anthem Performers

April 2, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release

No sports event starts without the singing of the national anthem, and the New Haven County Cutters are looking for aspiring singers and musicians to help out.

On Wednesday, April 27, the Cutters and WPLR 99.1 FM will be holding auditions for the national anthem at the Westfield Shoppingtown Connecticut Post Mall on the Boston Post Road in Milford between 6 and 9 p.m. The auditions are open to all ages of soloists, duos, groups--all of whom will sing a cappella--and instrumentalists.

A panel of judges will be evaluating performers on voice and music quality, stage presence and creativity. Those who score the best will be invited to perform at Yale Field prior to a Cutters game.

To schedule an audition, contact Stephen Colvin, director of promotions and special events, at 203-777-5636, Extension 20, or via email to _SColvin@cuttersbaseball.com_ (mailto:SColvin@cuttersbaseball.com) . Walkups will be welcome but reserving an auditioning time is preferred.

"Being original and creative is something we want people to consider coming into the tryout," said Colvin. "We welcome all comers. Age does not matter. The Cutters want to depend on the community to fill our anthem slots each night."
