
CT Tigers Fall on New England Night against Brooklyn

Norwich, CT - Corey Joyce went 2-for-4 with a run scored, but the Connecticut Tigers (16-19) fell by a final score of 6-1 against the Brooklyn Cyclones (20-14). The Tigers played tonight's contest as the New England Lobster Rolls as part of "New England Night" sponsored by Samuel Adams Summer Ale.
The Tigers got on the board first with an RBI single by Kona Quiggle to make it 1-0. Joyce came in to score the lone-run on the play against Matt Cleveland (Win, 1-0). Cleveland went five innings with five hits and struck out five.
Chandler Avant doubled home a run off of Christhian Tortosa (Loss, 1-2) in the fifth to score Jake Mangum and tie the game. Wilmer Reyes added to the lead with an RBI single to take a 2-1 lead.
After a pitching change, the Cyclones added two more runs in the inning. The Tigers pitching staff had three hit batsmen and three walks in the inning to give Brooklyn a 4-1 lead.
Reyes added insurance in the seventh inning with a two-run home run to make it 6-1. This was his third home run of the season.
The Tigers threated in the bottom of the inning after Avery Tuck doubled to lead off the inning. However, the Tigers stranded runners at second and third to end the frame. The Cyclones pitching staff surrendered no hits over the final 2.1 innings of the game.
The Connecticut Tigers will play in game two against the Brooklyn Cyclones tomorrow afternoon.
