C's Shutout Yakima 4-0 on Father's Day
June 19, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The tandem of RHP Justin Nicolino and RHP Blake McFarland slammed the door on a potent Yakima (1-2) offense as the Canadians (2-1) topped the Bears 4-0 out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Nicolino, 19, was electric for the Canadians just hours after Vancouver dropped a 6-5 decision to Yakima in 12 innings on Saturday, as the native of Orlando, Florida went five scoreless innings giving up just a lone hit before giving way to McFarland who took the Bears to task over his four hitless innings.
The Canadians got all the offense they would need in the home half of the 6th inning when C Garrett Maines capped off a three-run frame with his first home run of the season, scoring 2B Jon Berti who seconds earlier had cashed in RF Nick Baligod to help stimulate the Vancouver offense.
