Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League added five more players to its list of free agent signees, with three more receiver-defensive backs, a defensive specialist and a two-way lineman joining the club's roster.
The newest Crush players are skill position players Tony Scott, James Rooths, Ron Rogers and Windrell Hayes and two-way lineman Don Klein.
Terms of their contracts weren't disclosed.
Both Scott and Hayes have NFL experience, Scott with the Seattle Seahawks, Hayes with the New York Jets.
"Obviously, when your building a program the key to success is having good quality players," Crush Coach Mike Dailey said. "We've been extremely fortunate to sign free agents like these gentlemen, players who can contribute to the future success of the Crush."
Scott is a 5-foot-10 193-pound defensive specialist who played college football at North Carolina State. He was on the Seahawks roster last season as a cornerback and was in their training camp this summer, released on Aug. 25.
Hayes is 5-11 and 202 pounds and played college football at both San Jose State University and University of Southern California. A fifth-round draft pick of the Jets in 2000, he was on the Jets roster in the 2000 and 2001 NFL seasons. He caught six passes for 126 yards in 2000. Dailey said he could be used at several positions.
Rooths, 5-11 and 180 pounds, played college football at NCAA Division-II Shepherd College, where he set an NCAA all-division record with 10 career punt returns for touchdowns, including five in a single season, also an NCAA all-division record. He will be a two-way player and a kick returner.
Rogers, 5-foot-10 and 187 pounds, played college football at Western Michigan, where he was an all-Midwestern Athletic Conference selection. Dailey said he likely would be a defensive specialist.
Klein, 6-1 and 296 pounds, played center at Temple University and will be a two-way lineman for the Crush.
