Crush Set To Compete In Women's Football Jamboree

NEWINGTON, CT – March 12, 2004 – The Connecticut Crush Women's Professional Football Team will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania next Saturday, March 20th to take part in the 2004 Women's Football Jamboree, an organized preseason scrimmage hosted by the Pittsburgh Passion. The "Jamboree" will feature three championship contenders for the 2004 National Women's Football Association (NWFA) season: the Crush, the Passion, and the Columbus Comets. Teams will have the opportunity to play one session versus each opponent. Each session will consist of two parts: a controlled scrimmage and a simulated, timed quarter. The sessions will run as follows:

Session 1: Connecticut vs. Pittsburgh
Session 2: Connecticut vs. Columbus
Session 3: Columbus vs. Pittsburgh

The event begins at 2PM and will take place at the Pittsburgh Passion home field (Moe Rubenstein Stadium) at Ambridge Area High School. Admission is $5. All proceeds benefit the Ambridge Area High School.

The Connecticut Crush opens its 2004 regular season on the road against the Maine Freeze on Saturday April 10th. The first Crush home game is scheduled for Saturday May 8th at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in New Britain, adjacent to the home of the New Britain Rock Cats. The NWFA, the largest league in the world for women's full contact NFL-type football, was formed in August 2000 with just two teams.
