Connecticut Crush News Release

NEWINGTON, CT – May 7, 2004 – After a month of road games, the Connecticut Crush Women's Professional Football Team (2-1) opens its 2004 home season this Saturday, May 8th versus the Rochester Raptors (0-4) at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in New Britain, adjacent to the home of the New Britain Rock Cats. Kick off is 7:05 PM.

The Crush may have stunned Rochester with a 34-0 victory last week, but this Saturday, the Raptors will seek revenge on Connecticut turf. Crush fans will undoubtedly enjoy the exciting, new offensive passing game constructed by first year Head Coach Andrew Goetz, as well as the stifling defense led by Defensive Head Coach Junior Williams. The addition of several key assistant coaches and talented players make this game a must-see!

In addition to helmet-smashing football, fans of all ages will find plenty of additional entertainment with the popular Crush Cheerleaders and the spectacular New Britain High School Marching Band! And as always, Crusher the team mascot will make his way through the stands to visit with onlookers.

The celebration continues after the game at Sliders Sports Bar and Grill, 197 Episcopal Road, Berlin, CT. The Crush will host a Fan Appreciation/Kickoff Party where players and coaches will have the opportunity to mingle with fans, pose for pictures, sign autographs, and speak to media. The party will feature a buffet dinner and drink specials. Admission is $5 for this event. Media and VIP Season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge with proper identification.
