Harrisburg Heat News Release
Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Heat fell behind 8-0 and simply couldn't muster enough offense to come back in falling by the score of 20-12 to the Cleveland Crunch in front of 4,457 fans at the Farm Show Arena on Saturday night. With the loss, Harrisburg falls to 8-27 on the season. Cleveland improves to 12-23. Doug Petras (19 saves) takes the loss, while Otto Orf (19 saves) gets the win.
The Crunch jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Harrisburg found the scoring column, thanks to 2pgs from Giuliano Oliviero (9:41 of the first), Lee Edgerton (10:11), Justin Evans (14:11), and Edgerton again (11:52 of the second) to assume the advantage. Matt Tanzini got the Heat on the board at 13:46 of the second, cranking a restart opportunity over Orf to make it 8-2 at halftime.
Harrisburg found hope with an abbreviated rally to start the third, as Zoran Karic (2:16) and Allen Eller (6:54) notched 2pgs to bring the Heat to within 8-6. Harrisburg got no closer, however, as Bill Sedgewick answered for Cleveland with a deuce at 8:11 to make it 10-6, and when Chris Morman unintentionally played the ball into his own net at 11:13 for a 3pg (credited to Oliviero, who was closest to Morman), the Crunch had all the points they needed.
Edgerton struck again with a 2pg at 12:14 of the third to make it 15-6, and Harrisburg got goals from David Bascome (1:17) and Chris Morman (7:01) in the fourth to make it 15-10. Oliviero completed his eight-point night with another 2pg at 9:28 to make it 17-10. With Chris Morman on as the sixth attacker, Matt Knowles found the net for a deuce at 13:14 to make it 17-12, but Orf had the final say, chucking a length-of-the-field throw into an empty net for a trey at 13:59 to produce the final 20-12 score.
NOTES: With the victory, Cleveland assumes a 4-3 lead in the season series...Harrisburg and Cleveland meet again tomorrow, Sunday the 17th, at the CSU Convocation Center in Cleveland. Game time is 2:05 pm.
