Waterloo, Iowa - Waterloo Black Hawks goaltender Emmett Croteau was recognized with a place on the USHL All-Rookie Second Team, the United States Hockey League announced Friday.
Waterloo picked the Bonnyville, Alberta, native in the 10th round during Phase II of the 2020 USHL Draft. Joining the organization prior to his 17th birthday, Croteau appeared in 16 games with a 7-6-0 record and 3.67 goals-against average. His .887 save percentage was best among the Black Hawks last season.
Croteau's debut was a 29-save, 6-4 road victory versus the Sioux Falls Stampede on January 9th. He would pick up two additional wins in games against Sioux Falls as the season progressed. Other highlights from his rookie season include a February 21st 4-3 shootout win, when he stopped 33 Omaha Lancer attempts during regulation and overtime, then denied both of their shootout tries. Croteau made a season-high 34 saves when the Hawks topped the Lincoln Stars 6-2 on March 13th.
The last Black Hawks to be chosen for USHL All-Rookie recognition were forward Vladislav Firstov (First Team) and goalie Logan Stein (Second Team) at the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.
