LAWTON, OKLA- Forward Shawn Daniels and new Cavs Forward Nate Green visited Crosby Park Elementary School's fourth, fifth and sixth grade classes to talk about the transition from elementary school into middle school.

Principal Reesa Harwick introduced Green and Daniels to the crowd and asked Green to demonstrate some of his basketball skills before talking to the students about the issues of moving up to middle school.

Daniels spoke on the subject of listening to teachers and parents while going through their upcoming academic promotions because they can help and guide them through the transition.

"When I was your age, I didn't know what they were talking about so I didn't listen. When I got older like high school age and even now, I understand what they are talking about, and if I had listened my transition would have been easier," said Daniels.

When the questions of peer pressure came up, Green reminded the students that what some kids might think is "cool" is really not. He encouraged them to define what is cool for themselves, and not let others determine who they want to be.

The two Cavs players were also treated to the Leapin' Longhorns, Crosby Park's jump rope team. They did a short demonstration of the skills and tricks they can do for Green and Daniels, and they were both invited to double dutch with the kids.

"The speakers today were very inspirational and right on target with what the fourth, fifth and sixth graders are about to transition to. It was such a pleasure to have such great guys here today," said Crosby Park Elementry School Principal Reesa Harwick.

The Cavs will be on the road for the next seven days taking on the Great Falls Explorers for a two game series and another pair of games against the Yakama Sun Kings. To catch their away games, tune into Magic 95.
