May 8, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew today announced that it has acquired a conditional 2016 Second Round SuperDraft selection from Chivas USA in exchange for forward Ryan Finley. Per club and MLS policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"This move gives us salary cap flexibility and an additional roster spot," said Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. "Equally as important, the deal gives Ryan an opportunity to compete at the MLS level again and it's a chance for him to make a mark in our League. We wish him success in the next chapter of his career."
Finley made 14 appearances - including three starts at forward - and recorded one goal and one assist in his rookie season with the Black & Gold in 2013. While on-loan with the Dayton Dutch Lions of USL-PRO in 2014, the 23-year-old made three appearances.
The Crew returns home for its third match in seven days when the Black & Gold host Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, May 10 at Crew Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET / Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. For more information on catching the Black & Gold in 2014 - visit TheCrew.com/tickets.
