
Cracker-Cats Squeak Past T-Bones

The Edmonton Cracker-Cats opened their final homestand of the first half with a stirring 7-6 win over the Kansas City T-Bones. The âCats got six solid innings from ace Scott Richmond who allowed 5 runs on seven hits to improve his season mark to 5-2. He was relieved by his former college teammate Quinn Monsma who faced the minimum 6 batters over his two innings of work, surrendering a hit to former Cracker-Cat Aharon Eggleston, but erased him on a 1-3-6 caught stealing. Frank Reberger then sent down to the bullpen for new closer Lou Pote who allowed a single run, but stranded the tying run at third to notch his second save in as many chances. The offense was led by 3B Jason Aspito who was 3-4 on the night with a double and 4 RBI to go with a run scored a great night in the field.
Kansas City's starter Anthony Boughner went seven innings giving up all seven runs on ten hits to take the loss and drop his record to 1-3. Al Benjamin paced the T-Bone offense with a double and a triple to go with an RBI and a run scored.
Game two of the series will go Wednesday at 7:11pm and the Cracker-Cats will send Mike Johnson to the hill for his first start of 2007. He will be opposed by KC's Christopher Krawczyk.
