PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (May 19, 2013) - The Charlotte Stone Crabs shutout the Fort Myers Miracle, 2-0, at Charlotte Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.
After scoring 17 runs in the first two games of the series, the Miracle were held scoreless by Charlotte for the first time this season and stranded 13 base runners.
The Stone Crabs picked up the first run of the game off Miracle starter Matt Summers in the first inning. Richie Shaffer delivered a run-scoring single with two outs and a runner at third.
Fort Myers fell behind 2-0 in the sixth on a Hector Guevara RBI single.
Charlotte starter Felipe Rivero went 5.2 innings without allowing a run. Rivero (3-3) scattered six hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Matt Summers went 5.1 innings and was tagged with the loss. Summers (1-4) gave up two runs on six hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
The Miracle (31-11) visit the Lakeland Flying Tigers tomorrow at Joker-Marchant Stadium.
