St. Lucie Mets News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs broke a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs in the eighth inning in a 6-2 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday at Tradition Field.

Cade Gotta put the Crabs ahead for good with a RBI double off of Jimmy Duff that plated Andrew Velasquez. Gotta would later score on an error. A RBI single by Jace Conrad made it 5-2. All three runs came against Duff, who did not record an out.

The Mets collected 10 hits but none of the hits brought home a run. Bases loaded walks issued by Mike Franco to Michael Katz and John Mora in the seventh inning plated a pair of runs that tied the game, 2-2.

Scarlyn Reyes pitched seven solid innings for the Mets and gave up just two runs. The runs came in the second inning and both scored on sacrifice flies.

The Mets had the bases loaded with one out in the first inning but Wuilmer Becerra struck out and John Mora grounded back to the pitcher Yonny Chirinos. The Mets again loaded the bases with one out in the seventh when the game was tied but Becerra struck out and Tomas Nido flew out to end the threat.

The Mets went 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 base runners. They left 13 men on base in Monday's win over Daytona.

Every Met in the lineup had a hit. Patrick Biondi had the only two-hit game.

Gotta and Velasquez had three hits apiece for the Stone Crabs.

Next Up: The Mets (23-21) and Stone Crabs (23-24) play at Tradition Field on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
