Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL - On Monday, the Florida State League office had named First Baseman of the Palm Beach Cardinals, Casey Grayson, as the Florida State League Player of the Week for his performance during the week of May 16 - May 22, 2016. In that span Grayson hit for a .391 average, hit two home runs, one double and drove in seven runs. Grayson also saw his batting average raise 32 points in one week.
The Palm Beach Cardinals jumped out to many early leads during this span as Grayson contributed with many RBI in the first few innings, giving the Cardinals pitching staff leads to work with. The Palm Beach team had a 5-1 record during this week and much of it was due to the bat of Grayson.
This was the first time this season that a Cardinals player had been given this prestigious award from the league office. Grayson was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2014 MLB Draft in the 21st round. He played his collegiate ball at the University of Houston. This is the first season that Grayson has played with a full season affiliate since being drafted and the past week shows that he is starting to get accustomed to it.
