
Coyotes to Select 12th Overall in the First Round of Tonight's Draft

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Phoenix Coyotes currently own the 12th overall draft selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, which takes place tonight at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa., and will be televised on the NBC Sports Network beginning at 4 p.m. (AZ time). Rounds 2-7 will be held tomorrow (Saturday), June 28, beginning at 7 a.m., (AZ time), with NHL Network providing live coverage to viewers throughout North America. The franchise will officially become the Arizona Coyotes tonight at the NHL Entry Draft.
The Coyotes hold eight picks (tied for the third-most) in the seven-round draft, including two picks in the second and seventh rounds.
At last year's NHL Entry Draft in New Jersey, the Coyotes selected forward Max Domi with the 12th overall pick in the first round. The Coyotes own the 12th overall selection for only the third time in franchise history (Jim Kyte - 1982 and Max Domi - 2013).
COYOTES SELECTIONS IN THE 2014 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Round 1 - 12th overall
Round 2 - 43rd and 58th* overall
Round 3 - 73rd overall
Round 5 - 133rd overall
Round 6 - 163rd overall
Round 7 - 191st* and 193rd overall
*Phoenix acquired the Chicago Blackhawks second-round pick (58th overall), in exchange for David Rundblad and Mathieu Brisebois on March 4, 2014.
*Phoenix acquired the New Jersey Devils seventh-round pick (191st overall), in exchange for Steve Sullivan on April 3, 2013.
DRAFT VIEWING PARTY AT JOBING.COM ARENA
Hockey fans throughout the Valley can watch the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft at Jobing.com Arena beginning at 4 p.m. (AZ time).
Gambo and Burns from Arizona Sports 98.7 FM will broadcast their show live from the arena in the Rinkside Club from 2 - 6 p.m. (AZ time) while Coyotes radio play-by-play announcer Bob Heethuis will provide Draft updates throughout the first round.
Coyotes' goaltender Mike Smith will be at the event to sign autographs from 5-6 p.m. Wristbands will be provided to the first 150 fans. Kids attending the Draft party can play ball hockey on the arena floor and the Coyotes will have two Zambonis and NHL nets available for fan photos. Kids will also have an opportunity to take a slapshot on an NHL goal or play in the Coyotes Bounce House. Dressing room tours will be available throughout the event and members of the Paw Patrol, Howler and the FOX Sports Arizona Girls will be on hand to interact with fans.
The Coyotes team name will officially change to "Arizona Coyotes" at the NHL Draft and new Arizona Coyotes merchandise will be available for the first time at the Coyotes Draft Viewing Party/Open House.
