Coyotes to hold dance team tryouts

FRESNO – The Central Valley Coyotes dance team, the "Valley Girls," will hold auditions for its 2005 squad on Saturday, January 15, at Sierra Vista Mall in Clovis.

The "Valley Girls" perform at Selland Arena during the Coyote's home games. Members of the squad also make personal and charity appearances throughout the Central Valley.

Registration, which is open only to female dancers, 18-years-old or older, begins at noon at the Gottschalks Food Court with the audition starting promptly at 1 p.m. The address of Sierra Vista Mall is 1050 Shaw Ave. Clovis, CA 93612, on the southeast corner of Clovis and Shaw. Registration is $25 and is due the day of the tryout.

Dancers should expect contemporary hip-hop/technical choreography at the audition and will learn and perform a routine the day of the event. Body conscious dance clothing is suggested, and a headshot and resume (stapled together) is required.

Y101, Fresno's all-hit radio station, will help handle the casting of the squad and the "Valley Girls" dance team coordinator will provide the choreography. For more information please call (559) 263-9780.

The Coyote's will kick off their 2005 af2 season on the road in Bakersfield on April 2. Their first home game will be on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. against the Arkansas Twisters. Fifty dollar deposits for 2005 Coyote season tickets, which include eight games played at Selland Arena, are now being accepted at 559-263-9780.
