Coyotes Recall Chris Summers from Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Chris Summers on an emergency basis from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209 pound Summers has appeared in 14 games with the Pirates this season, collecting one assist and 24 penalty minutes (PIM). This is the second recall of the season for the 23-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In 2010-11, Summers recorded 1-9-10 and 54 PIM in 75 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). He also appeared in two games with the Coyotes last season, collecting four penalty minutes (PIM).

Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
