GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The Arizona Coyotes will play their season and home opener this Saturday, Oct. 15 versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Game time is 6 p.m. at Gila River Arena and doors will open at 4:30 p.m. All fans attending the Coyotes home opener will receive a 2016-17 Coyotes magnetic schedule courtesy of FOX Sports Arizona.
The Coyotes are proud to be celebrating 20 seasons in the Valley of the Sun this year and former Coyotes goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin will be at the game to drop the ceremonial puck to kick off the season. Khabibulin was a member of the original 1996 Coyotes team and played with the organization from 1996-1999.
The Coyotes will continue with the Bar-S Top Dog of the Game in-arena promotion this season. Each home game, a celebrity or local community hero will lead Coyotes fans in the raising of the "Red Moon" to get Coyotes players and fans fired up for the action. This special ceremony will take place in the thirty seconds leading up to the puck drop at the start of each game. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton will serve as the Coyotes Top Dog on Opening Night.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the game so they can participate in the Opening Night pre-game show. More than 17,000 bracelets will be distributed to fans in attendance to wear during the game. The bracelets will be synchronized with the music played throughout the game creating a unique and entertaining visual experience.
The Coyotes and Levy Restaurants are introducing several new food items at Gila River Arena this season. Fans can enjoy shrimp Po-boy sandwich w/kettle chips, chicken taquitos, buffalo & bleu cheese house made chips, buffalo chicken sandwiches, Bleu buffalo- Vienna hot dog, pork fritter sandwich, bearded pig grilled cheese w/tomato bisque, 3 cheese grilled cheese w/tomato bisque, all American cheeseburgers, hog wild burger, fried buttermilk chicken sandwiches, coyotes helmet smokehouse barbeque nachos, meatball hoagies, I.T.B. Italian turkey & bacon sub, and Bars-S jalapeno cheddar sausages.
