Edinburg Roadrunners News Release

The Edinburg Coyotes of United League Baseball (ULB) announced today that pitcher Aaron Guerra aka "Mad Scientist" will be returning to play for the 2008 season. This will mark his third year with the Edinburg Coyotes since United League Baseball's inaugural year of 2006.

Guerra had a standout year in 2007 as he made an impression throughout the league striking out 95 batters eclipsing his record to 9-3. Guerra finished the year tied for third with most wins and had the seventh best ERA of United League Baseball with 3.68. The Edinburg native played for the University of Texas Pan-American Broncs and went on to play for the Edinburg Coyotes right after his graduation in the spring of 2006.

"Guerra is a great pitcher and I'm excited to have him back," field manager Vince Moore said. "He is very hard to stop once he gets into a rhythm and I'm confident he will put up another dominant year."

In addition to Guerra's return, five more players have signed with the Coyotes. Carlos Jan, Amado German, Gary Rocha, Nick Aranda and Jason Arrowood will be on the roster for the upcoming season. Jan is an eight-year veteran who joined the Coyotes last year finishing off the season with an era of 3.38. German will begin his second-year with the Coyotes and will mark his ninth-year in professional baseball. German was out for three weeks last year due to a foot injury but still managed to win the team's Golden Glove Award as he finished off the season with 92 total catches. Nick Aranda is another familiar face returning for the 2008 season. He began his baseball career last year with the Coyotes and made a big impression coming in third in steals for the United League with 35. Rocha and Arrowood will both make their ULB debuts with the Edinburg Coyotes. Rocha is a five-year veteran of professional baseball. In 2006, Rocha played single A baseball with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, a Florida Marlin affiliate. He has a career total of 235 hits with 47 doubles. Arrowood, a Tulsa Oklahoma native, began his baseball career in 2006 with the Gateway Grizzles of the Frontier League. He will give the team great hitting opportunities in the lineup as he comes in with a career batting average of .278 with a .366 slugging percentage.
