Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Fresno, Calif.) -The Central Valley Coyotes (6-4) will travel to Kennewick, WA on Friday to play the Tri-Cities Fever (6-4) on Saturday night for the second time this season. In the previous meeting, the Fever escaped Fresno on April 21 with a 49-44 after the Coyotes were unable to score at the end of the game.
With the Coyote and the Fever currently tied for second place in the American Conference Western Division; with Tri-Cities holding the tiebreaker, a win by either team helps their playoff hopes and seating. If the play-offs were to happen today, the Fever would be the number 4 seed while the Coyotes would be seeded number 5.
In last weekend's game against their rival the Bakersfield Blitz (4-6) the Coyote defense carried the day stopping the Blitz offense 5 times and holding them to a field goal one other time in a 39-37 win. This included the Blitz final drive of the game when they prevented the Blitz offense from fining the end zone on their last drive to preserve the win. The usually high-powered Coyote offense had a very disappointing outing scoring only 39 points; coming into the game, they had averaged 61 points a game.
The Fever coming off a similar type of game, needing to rely on their defense to defeat the defending af2 Champions and current division leader the Spokane Shock (7-3) 39-34. The Fever has only lost 2 of 7 games since beating the Coyotes on April 21.
This weekend's game will be broadcast on 1430 ESPN Radio beginning 7 P.M., join Guy Haberman and Bryan Whitmore as they bring you every hard-hitting minute.
The Coyote return home to Selland Arena on June 30, 2007 when they will take on the Spokane Shock. Come out and celebrate Coyote Fan Appreciation Night, ticket specials are starting at $3 and with limited Arena Level seating available for $10.
For additional information or to order tickets for any of the remaining 3 home games, call the Coyote ticket office at (559) 263-9780 or visit www.centralvalleycoyotes.com.
