Coyotes Draft Pick Brown Joins Pirates

Portland, Maine - Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today the Pirates have added forward Chris Brown to the roster.

Brown, a 6-foot-2 inch, 207 pound forward, just completed a three-year college career with the University of Michigan. He played a total of 125 games, scoring 34 goals and 46 assists for 80 points. He also amassed 183 penalty minutes and was rated a plus-36.

A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Brown was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the Second Round (36th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Prior to playing at Michigan, Brown spent two seasons with the US National Team Development Program's Under-18 Team.

He will be eligible to play for the Pirates tonight when they face the Connecticut Whale tonight at 6:30 p.m. It's Autism Awareness Night, and the Pirates will wear special autism-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off later to help the cause.
