Central Valley Coyotes News Release

FRESNO – Two players who played for the arenafootball2 league's Green Bay Blizzard last season, wide receiver/defensive back DeRonn Finley and defensive specialist Lemont Hudgins, have been assigned by the league to the Central Valley Coyotes, head coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. announced today.

"Having played against these guys last year I am very familiar with their talent," Biletnikoff Jr. said. "DeRonn gives us more depth at the skill position and has the ability to compete for the offensive specialist spot. With Lemont we bring in a much needed defensive back."

Finley (5-9, 180 pounds) is entering his second af2 season, after playing in 15 games with Green Bay last year. The three-way star caught 83 passes for 1049 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also returned 23 kicks for 391 yards and one score. At defensive back he recorded 43 tackles and three interceptions.

A two-year starter at Idaho State University, Finley finished his career as the Bengal's all-time leader in all-purpose yards per game with 140.7. He totaled 93 catches for 1,425 yards and 12 touchdowns in his two seasons. In 2000, the double threat was nation's fourth leading punt returner, breaking school records for returns (33) and yards (502) in a single season while earning Division I-AA All-American second team honors as a receiver and honorable mention honors as a return man.

Hudgins (5-11, 180 pounds) will also play in his second af2 season after recording 12 tackles and one interception with the Blizzard before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.

The defensive back was a teammate of Finley's at Idaho State, ending his career with 70 tackles and five interceptions. In 2002, Hudgins played professionally overseas for the Saarland Hurricanes of the German Football League as a defensive back recording 34 tackles and eight interceptions.

The Coyotes will kick off their 2005 af2 season with an exhibition game at Selland Arena on March 27. The regular season starts on the road in Bakersfield on April 2. Fifty dollar deposits for 2005 Coyote season tickets, which include all nine games played at Selland Arena, are now being accepted at 559-263-9780.
