
Coyle Named June Player of the Month

Portland, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce Portland Sea Dogs second baseman/third baseman Sean Coyle has been named the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of June. Coyle batted .348 (32-for-92) with eight doubles, one triple, six home runs, 22 RBI, 22 runs scored, five stolen bases, a .450 on-base percentage and a .652 slugging percentage in 26 games during the month. The 22-year old recorded at least one hit in 21 of the 26 games he played in during the month, including putting together hitting streaks of 10 games and seven games during the month. He also homered in back-to-back games during the month on June 15th at Akron and June 16th at Erie. The 5'8", 175 lb. slugger tied for the league lead in total bases (60) and extra-base hits (15) during the month. He also finished the month ranked among the league leaders in slugging percentage (.652-2nd), on-base percentage (.450-3rd), runs scored (22-3rd), homers (6-tied 3rd), RBI (22-tied 3rd), walks (15-5th), hits (32-tied 5th), doubles (8-tied 7th) and batting average (.348-8th).
Coyle, who is a native of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, won the Eastern League Player of the Week Award for the period of June 23rd-29th after hitting .524 with a pair of home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored in six games during that week. He was also recently named to the Eastern Division roster for the 2014 UPMC Health Plan Eastern League All-Star Stop in Altoona.
Sean, who is hitting .348 with 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 44 runs scored and 12 steals in 60 games with the Sea Dogs this season, was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2010 draft out of Germantown Academy in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania.
