Spokane Chiefs News Release
After the Spokane Chiefs 6-5 overtime win over the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night the team learned that Jared Cowen is returning to the organization.
The defenseman played five NHL pre-season games with the Ottawa Senators. He was their first round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In the pre-season he had two assists and was +1. As a 19-year-old, Cowen could only play in the NHL with the Senators or be returned to Spokane this season.
The former first round selection in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft will be playing in Spokane for the fourth season. Last season, Cowen played 59 games, scored a career high eight goals and 30 points and led all Chiefs defensemen with a +23. He has played 181 career games in a Chiefs jersey.
Cowen is expected to be in the lineup when Spokane travels to Chilliwack on Tuesday night.
