Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Waterloo Black Hawks games wouldn't be the same without the clatter of bells throughout the rink, but the timbre of those bells will be a little different during the Hawks' next home game on Friday, November 5th at 7:05 p.m. against the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

While the matchup certainly is the next contest in the Dupaco Cowbell Cup series, it will also signal the beginning of The Salvation Army's 2021 Red Kettle Campaign in the Cedar Valley. In addition to the "clang" of cowbells when the Hawks take the ice against their Highway 20 rivals, there will also be the "ting" of The Salvation Army's bells reminding all in attendance that they have an opportunity to make this a brighter holiday season for their neighbors.

"The Salvation Army works on behalf of those in need all throughout the year, but that is only possible because of the generosity of everyday people, especially during the holidays," said Black Hawks President of Business Operations Joe Greene. "We are pleased to be able to host this year's kick-off event for the Red Kettle Campaign and are hopeful that Black Hawks supporters will make a difference next Friday."

Fans can enjoy the game in style while helping The Salvation Army, thanks to Priority 1 Automotive Services. Tickets are currently available for an arena suite provided Priority 1, while supplies last. To claim your suite seat, contact The Salvation Army office (by phone at (319) 235-9358 or in person at 89 Franklin Street in Waterloo) and make a minimum donation of $60 for one ticket or $100 for a pair.

"Priority 1 Automotive Services has been a loyal supporter of the Black Hawks and is committed to doing good in the community. We thank them on both counts," noted Greene.

The November 5th game will feature several events or activities to highlight the Red Kettle Campaign, including "kettle curling" at intermission, information about The Salvation Army's activities, and a rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner by Salvation Army Majors Martin and Shannon Thies before puck drop.

Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through an array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. Locally, The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls anticipates providing assistance to approximately 1,200 Cedar Valley residents during the Christmas season alone through their local toy distribution and holiday meal program.
