Twin City Cyclones News Release
Winston Salem, SC- The Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced the appointment today of Sean Cowan as General Manager of the Cyclones. Cowan moves up from his current role as assistant coach and is responsible for all day-to-day business operations as well as player signings and related movements.
This management restructuring of the TC Cyclones is being done to reflect and strengthen the team's commitment to Cyclone fans, the Winston Salem business community and to demonstrate our firm belief that the Winston-Salem area is an important part of the SPHL.
Cowan reacted to his appointment with elation. "I am excited about this opportunity personally but more importantly, I am extremely happy to be part of the Cyclones' renewed commitment to the Piedmont Triad area and our hockey fans." The Cyclones staff, our players, team ownership  and our SPHL partners are committed to a  long-term relationship with the Winston Salem community and I am thrilled to be part of that commitment."
A 1991 graduate of Elmira College, Cowan played college hockey and later served as an assistant coach for his alma mater. He brings a combination of business and hockey operational experience to his new role. He has an extensive background as an owner and manager in both hockey and golf equipment retail and marketing. Importantly, his business experience is complemented by on-ice and behind the bench experience as a player and coach.
Cowan spent time as a player in the United Hockey League, the Central Hockey League as well as the ECHL. More recently, he has served as the assistant coach for the Cyclones since the 2007- 2008 season, after previous stints as assistant coach with the Elmira Jackals, currently of the ECHL, and his alma mater Elmira College.
Cowan assumes his GM duties immediately for the Cyclones, one of the member teams of the SPHL, the leader in Single "A" Hockey.
