Published on January 16, 2009 under International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
For the 287th time in their IHL history, the Kalamazoo Wings will battle the Fort Wayne Komets. Kalamazoo has won five straight over their arch-rivals and are 3-1-0-0 this season at Allen County Memorial Coliseum. The K-Wings also hold a 127-126-31-2 all-time record against the Komets in IHL encounters.
Snapping a three-game losing streak on Wednesday, the K-Wings commence a two-game road swing in search of ending another streak. Kalamazoo has dropped two straight away from Wings Stadium. The two-game road winless streak ties a season-high for Kalamazoo.
With 40 points, the Komets enter the night in fourth place in the league. Fort Wayne is one point behind Muskegon for third and four behind Kalamazoo for second place. Like the K-Wings, the Komets are hoping to snap a streak, as they are winless in their last two games.

Working Overtime
Wednesday's victory for Kalamazoo was their fifth contest this season that was decided in an extra session. The K-Wings, who are 3-0 in overtime and 2-0 in shootout games, have not only participated in the most extra session games in the league, they are the only team in the IHL to not lose in either overtime or a shootout.
Scoring in the Clutch
With his game-winning tally on Wednesday, defenseman Rob Jarvis has tied forward Lucas Drake for the team-lead in game-winners with three. Besides sharing the team-lead, Jarvis leads all IHL rookies in game-winners.
Let Them Shoot
Getting out-shot in a game isn't necessarily a bad thing for the K-Wings. On the season, Kalamazoo is 11-4-0-0 when they have fewer shots than their opponents.
Getting Back on Track
Snapping a three-game losing streak versus Flint on Wednesday, Kalamazoo will look to terminate another streak tonight. The K-Wings enter tonight on a season-high tying two-game road losing streak.
