Closing out the month of January by commencing a home-and-home series, the Kalamazoo Wings will take on the Fort Wayne Komets. Tonight will be the 12th of 16 meetings between the archrivals. On the season, the K-Wings are 5-5-1-0 versus the Komets, including a record 4-3-0-0 at Wings Stadium.
Wrapping up a brief two-game home stand, Kalamazoo will hit the ice looking to continue a streak. The K-Wings enter tonight on a five-game (3-0-2-0) unbeaten streak in regulation. With 43 points, Kalamazoo is in fourth place in the North Division, five points behind Fort Wayne, who is in third.
Concluding a three-game road swing, Fort Wayne is currently 1-1-0-0 during the trip. The Komets have won three out of their last four games away from the Allen County Memorial Coliseum. With 48 points, With 48 points, Fort Wayne trails the Toledo Walleye by just two points for second place in the division.

Young Returns Yesterday defenseman Harry Young was reassigned to the K-Wings by the New Jersey Devils. In separate transactions, Kalamazoo placed defenseman Kyle Page on the reserve and released Dwight Helminen.
Martin Receives Honor
For the second-time this season, goaltender Joel Martin has been named the ECHL's Reebok Hockey Goaltender of the Week. Last week, Martin went 2-0-1-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.94 and a save percentage of 0.946.
Firing Squad
On Sunday, Kalamazoo had no trouble generating shots. The K-Wings set season-highs for most shots in a single-period (22 in the first period) and for most shots in a single-game (50).
Five Alive The K-Wings are riding a five-game (3-0-2-0) unbeaten streak in regulation. The five-game streak is the longest this season for Kalamazoo.
