Cougars Wrap up Weekend with Americans
September 23, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince George Cougars News Release
With the adrenaline still flowing from their dominant win over the Tri-City Americanas, the Cougars will look to keep rolling when they take on the Ams once again to wrap up the weekend set.
Shining in bright in his WHL debut, Josh Ravensbergen stopped all 28 shots he faced for his first career shutout and win in the WHL. Zac Funk and Viliam Kmec both recorded their first WHL hat-tricks. Terik Parascak scored his first two WHL goals, and Ondrej Becher recorded four points (1-3-4) during an impressive 9-0 victory.
"I was really impressed with out structure," said GM & Head Coach Mark Lamb. "Everything that we have been preaching in camp and exhibition transferred over into our first regular season game. I like a lot of the things we did." Finding success on both of the special teams' battle, the Cougars went 2-for-5 on the power-play, while also going 5-for-5 on the penalty kill which included an American 5 on 3 that was killed off in the first period. "That was a big part of the game," said Ravensbergen. "If they score there, it could be a different game. We had a great kill there and didn't give up a whole lot."
Both Prince George and Tri-City are still without their NHL picks as they are all attending NHL camps.
