COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths lost both of their games on the road over the past week, dropping an overtime decision on Friday night at Pensacola and losing in Augusta on Saturday. The Snakes will head back to Pensacola this coming Friday for a rematch with the first-place Ice Flyers before heading home for their first home game in two weeks against the Huntsville Havoc on Saturday night. Both games will be broadcast on America One Networks with both a video and audio feed, with a nominal fee for each game. A free audio-only webcast of the games is also available. Details can be found at www.cottonmouths.com. In addition, road games are now broadcast locally in the Columbus area on 106.9 WRCG-FM.

Friday, December 10 - Columbus at Pensacola, 8:05 PM EST (Season Series vs. PEN: 0-2(1))

The Snakes will spend their second straight Friday night in Pensacola this week as they travel to Florida to take on the Ice Flyers. The Ice Flyers have ascended to first place in the SPHL standings after winning three straight last week to overtake both Huntsville and Mississippi.

Saturday, December 11 - Huntsville at Columbus, 7:30 PM EST (Season Series vs. HSV: 1-2(0))

The Cottonmouths return home on Saturday night to take on the Huntsville Havoc in the Snake Pit. Columbus has faced the Havoc three times so far this season with the home team emerging victorious each time. After Saturday night, the two teams' next game will be another matchup at the Columbus Civic Center on Thursday, December 16. The Havoc's season so far is a tale of two teams: after a 7-1 start in their first eight games, Huntsville is 3-5 in their last eight. Havoc goaltender Dan McWhinney, last season's playoff MVP in bringing Huntsville their first SPHL championship, has been a workhorse in net so far this season, ranking first in the league in wins (8) and shutouts (2), tied for second in games played (12), and third in minutes played (713).

COTTONMOUTHS WEEK IN REVIEW

Friday, December 3 - Columbus 3 at Pensacola 4 (OT) (Attendance: 2,134)

The Snakes traded goals with Pensacola in regulation, with three of the six regulation goals for both sides scored in the last five minutes, and skated to a 3-3 tie after sixty minutes. After a Columbus penalty early in the extra session, Matt Whitehead notched a power play goal to give the Ice Flyers the win. Brett Hammond scored twice for Columbus with Jesse Cole scoring the other with goaltender Andrew Loewen pulled for an extra attacker. Loewen deserved a better fate in net for the Snakes as he kept Columbus in the game throughout, stopping 39 of the 43 shots on goal he faced. Ryan Scott earned the win in net for Pensacola, turning away 27 of the 30 shots on goal for the Snakes. Pensacola was 2 for 6 on the power play while the Cottonmouths were 1 of 4 with the man advantage.

Saturday, December 4 - Columbus 1 at Augusta 3 (Attendance: 1,068)

After Brent Clarke opened the scoring with a first-period marker, the Augusta RiverHawks scored three unanswered en route to the 3-1 victory over Columbus on Saturday night. Clarke's goal was a shorthanded tally, the first such goal for the Snakes this season. RiverHawks goaltender Jon Olthuis took the win in net with 33 saves on 34 shots on goal, while Ian Vigier was the losing goaltender for Columbus with 22 saves on 25 shots. Augusta was 1 for 3 on the power play while the Snakes were scoreless in five chances on the PP.

THREE STARS OF THE WEEK

1. F Brett Hammond - Hammond notched two goals in Friday's game at Pensacola.

2. D Will Barlow - Barlow was the only Cottonmouth to have a point in both games over the weekend, tallying an assist in each contest.

3. G Andrew Loewen - Loewen's play on Friday night in Pensacola kept Columbus in the game throughout regulation as he turned away 39 of 43 Ice Flyer shots on goal.
