Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announce the signing of Forwards, Chris Rial and Andrew Kolb to tryout agreements. Both players are first year recruits for the Cottonmouths and come to Columbus following four years of collegiate hockey.

Chris Rial is a Las Vegas, Nevada native who just completed his collegiate career at St. Norbert's College in De Pere, Wisconsin. Rial was able to mark 50 points (27 G, 23 A) during his four years at St. Norbert's. When asked about the expectations for Rial, Coach Bechard stated, "Chris is being recruited as a power forward for us. He's a big body out there and I expect that he will have a large presence on the ice.

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Andrew Kolb is coming to Columbus from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point; the same University as Cottonmouths' Legends Brian Idalski, Mick Kempffer, Kevin Plager and Derek Marchand. During his time at Stevens Point, he put up 58 points (25 G, 33, A) in only 76 games. Kolb boasts an outstanding junior hockey performance, where he racked up 130 points (55 G, 75 A) in only two seasons. "Kolb's junior hockey performance is impressive. When you pair that with his experience in one of the top Division III schools in the country, Kolb will be expected to be responsible defensively and will look to add some scoring punch as well."

Both players will be competing for their spot on the team at the Cottonmouths training camp on October 14th. "We are very excited to get these players here for a tryout," stated head coach Jerome Bechard, "both of these guys come from great schools and really know how to get the puck in the net. We're really looking forward to seeing first-hand what these guys can do on the ice."

The Cottonmouths will begin their 20th season on October 23rd at 7:30 pm against the Huntsville Havoc. Season tickets, group tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now for the upcoming season.
