Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

The Columbus Cottonmouths announced today the signings of forward Lorne Misita and newcomer Dan Leslie for the 2007-08 season.

Misita returns to the Snakes for his fourth consecutive season. He first joined the Snakes two games into the 2004-05 season after beginning the year with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. During the 2004-05 season, Misita picked up 72 points in 54 games to finish fifth in the league in points scored. He again began the following season in the ECHL, this time with the Youngstown Steelhounds. Misita rejoined the Snakes 13 games into the 2005-06 season, registering 58 points in 45 games. Last season, Misita spent the entire season with the Snakes, racking up 65 points in 56 regular season games.

"This will be Lorne's fourth year here and I expect big things out of him," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "Last year wasn't his best, and I expect him to rebound, be on top of his game, and provide a scoring punch with his physical play."

Rookie forward Dan Leslie will join the Snakes for his first professional season. He spent last season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Portage Terriers where he racked up 29 points and 273 penalty minutes.

"Dan is a 6'4", 220-pound player with 273 penalty minutes last season," Bechard said. "He'll obviously be a physical presence on the ice. In addition to that, I want him to contribute in all aspects of the game, being defensively responsible and chipping in on offense."

The Cottonmouths have now signed six forwards (Tim Green, Ryan Haggarty, Orrin Hergott, Leslie, Misita and Ryan Rutz), two defensemen (Galloway Carroll and Andrew Dwyer) and a goalie (Nathan Heinen) for the 2007-08 season. The Snakes are set to open training camp Oct. 15, and will host an exhibition game versus the Jacksonville Barracudas on Oct. 20. Season tickets are available now and individual game tickets will be available Oct. 1. Don't forget to pick up your fan rewards card!
