Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced two departures in their front office staff. Assistant General Manager Jason Bray has resigned from his post with the team to pursue an opportunity in the telecommunications industry, and Office Manager Michele Aultman has also left the team to pursue other career opportunities. To help fill the open posts, the team also announced the hiring of Ashley Foster as Assistant General Manager, effective May 15.

A Columbus native, Bray joined the team full-time in the 2005-06 season. He opened and managed a highly successful car audio business in Columbus prior to joining the Cottonmouths. He ascended from Marketing and Promotions Director to Assistant General Manager, a title he held since the 2007-08 season. Many successful Cottonmouths promotions over the past several years were planned and spearheaded by Bray, including "Fight Night" with UFC fighters such as Forrest Griffin and Josh Koscheck, Midget Wrestling Night, and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders this past season.

"I can't express how much I have enjoyed not only being a part of a first-class organization but also something I believe adds to the quality of life in this community," said Bray. "It has been such a positive learning experience for me and I am extremely thankful for the many relationships I have made with the great fans, sponsors, and staff. I am thankful for the opportunity I was given eight years ago by Wanda [Amos, Snakes' owner] and Jerome. I encourage the community to show its support for the Cottonmouths as I have seen firsthand the generosity of the organization. I'm not sure the people of Columbus truly know the level of support local charities and individuals in need receive from the team."

"I will miss Jason. He gave me everything he had over the past eight years," said Bechard. "I wish him well in his new endeavors and he will always be part of the Snakes family."

Office manager Michele Aultman also departs the team after one season in the front office.

"Michele has had a good year with the team and I wish her well; in the end, it was a long commute for her to Columbus and she wanted to pursue opportunities closer to home," said Bechard.

This will mark Ashley Foster's second stint with the team. She reprises her role as Assistant General Manager she held with the Snakes from 2005 to 2007. She briefly held the same role with the SPHL's Fayetteville FireAntz in her native city prior to taking on a role as Box Office Manager at the FireAntz' home building, the Crown Coliseum. She makes the return trip to Columbus as her husband John will be restationed from his Army post at Fort Bragg to Fort Benning.

"Ashley got in touch with me when she knew she was headed back to Columbus, and as it turns out, the timing couldn't have been more perfect," said Bechard.

The Cottonmouths kick off their 10th anniversary season as a proud member of the SPHL and 18th season of professional hockey in Columbus this October. The season ticket drive for 2013-14 is well underway as well as great sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming season.
