Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

IN TRAINING

It was a cool day in Lubbock Monday and the cool air was a signal that it is the beginning of hockey season. Players hitting the ice inside the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum Monday also signified hockey season is underway, as Cotton Kings Training Camp opened its doors. Players are battling for the 18 available active roster spots, which must consist of at least five "developmental" players (128 games played pro or less) and no more than four may be "veterans" (280 or more pro games played). This season, the Kings have four veterans in camp and 18 developmental players in camp. Camp consists of fundamental drills and instructions from Head Coach Chris Dashney and will then climax into a trio of training camp games this weekend. The Cotton Kings travel to Amarillo Friday before returning home to host the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday (7:05 PM) and the Amarillo Gorillas Sunday (5:05 PM). Final cuts will be made next week before the team opens the regular season on October 21st hosting Odessa.

3 DOLLAR BILL WEEKEND

The home exhibition dates for this weekend's games are set for Saturday night (vs. Odessa at 7:05 PM) and Sunday evening (vs. Austin at 5:05 PM). Clear Channel Radio Lubbock (KFMX, KFYO, KKAM, KKCL, KQBR, KZII) has made it possible to purchase tickets for the home exhibition games at a low price of $3 each. "3-Dollar Bill Weekend" discount tickets must be purchased at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum Box Office on each of the home exhibition game nights (box office opens an hour prior to faceoff). Season ticket holders will be admitted into the game for free, as part of their season ticket holder benefits.

OFFICE LINE CHANGE

The Cotton Kings front office had made its move to a new location. The offices (formerly located at 13th and University) are now located at 3501 50th St. in Suite 124. The offices are on the south side of 50th St. just west of Indiana and United Market Street. Phone and fax numbers to reach the Cotton Kings offices have not changed.

SWING WITH THE KINGS

The annual Lubbock Cotton Kings Swing with the Kings Golf Tournament benefiting the Alzheimer's Association will tee off 11AM on Monday, October 23rd at Lake Ridge Country Club.
