Fort Worth - Lubbock Cotton Kings forwards Nolan Graham and Bobby Brown scored two goals apiece to pace the visiting Cotton Kings to a 6-1 victory over the Fort Worth Brahmas on Tuesday night at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum.
Graham and Brown sandwiched first period goals around a score from Josh Anderson as the Cotton Kings jumped out to 3-0 lead in the opening period of play.
Staked to an early lead, the Cotton Kings cruised to victory in the final two periods. Lubbock forward Jon Foster scored a second period goal for the âKings and Graham and Brown added third period goals for Lubbock.
Despite playing with a full roster of 16 skaters for the first time since November 12, 2005, the Brahmas could offer little resistance against a focused Cotton Kings squad. Only a second period powerplay goal from center Cory Stillman, his Brahmas team high 26th score of the season, prevented a shutout loss for Fort Worth.
Fort Worth rookie netminder Andrew Martin took the loss for the Brahmas, allowing the six Cotton Kings goals on 32 shots. Lubbock goaltender Brett Koscielny stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced to help the Cotton Kings improve to 22-26-3 for the season.
The Brahmas, now 15-30-8 on the year, will try to regroup and be ready for a three-game homestand this weekend at the WRMC. On Friday, March 3, Fort Worth will host the Wichita Thunder. Saturday night, March 4, the Brahmas will meet the Austin Ice Bats. Then, on Sunday, March 5, Fort Worth will wrap up the home portion of their 2005-2006 schedule with another contest against Austin. Friday and Saturday's games will be at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday's home season finale will start at 3:00 p.m.
