Corvallis Knights Update

July 7, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Corvallis Knights News Release

We've got a big, big week coming up as Kitsap (Monday-Wednesday) and Kelowna (Thursday-Saturday) visit Goss Stadium July 11-17.

Foremost is the first Corvallis appearance by the World-Famous San Diego Chicken, the most recognizable mascot in sports. He'll be performing his zany antics on Saturday, July 16, when the Knights take on the visiting Kelowna Falcons.

Check us out online at corvallisknights.com, or head on down and see us in person to purchase tickets in advance.

Fireworks Night

As many of our fans already know, our July 3rd Fireworks Night show was unexpectedly cut short due to a system failure by our pyro vendor. The abbreviated show did not meet our high standards, and we will do our best to assure this won`t happen again, as we take great pride in our fireworks displays.

We take complete responsibility, and ask that our loyal fans trust that we plan on keeping our standards high and intend to deliver a fantastic show after the July 26th West Coast League All-Star Game, and at all subsequent Fireworks Night promotions.

Injuries Hurt Knights

The injury bug hit the Knights last week as we lost Mt. Hood CC shortstop Alex Foulon for several weeks with a bad shoulder, and UC Riverside outfielder David Andriese (shingles) for at minimum our July 7-9 series at Kelowna.

However, WSU outfielder Nate Blackham, out since June 22 with a bad thumb, could be back as early as next week.

Injuries have come early and often for the Knights this summer as Corvallis lost Seattle University third baseman Nate Roberts to a hand injury, Feather River catcher Jaret Bogue to a hip flexor and Western Oregon infielder Griffin Boyd to a rib injury. Oregon right-handed pitcher Jimmie Sherfy has been sidelined for the past two weeks and is out indefinitely.
