Corrected Attendance: 1233 Fans Witnessed The Ice Muskies Opener Friday Night
October 24, 2009 - All American Hockey League (AAHL)
Madison Ice Muskies News Release
After tallying the final attendance numbers from Friday night's opener at Hartmeyer Ice Arena, it was determined that 1233 fans witnessed the first game in Madison Ice Muskies history. The attendance listed in last night's summary (750) only included walk-up sales and did not include the nearly 500 tickets that were purchased before Friday.
"We couldn't be happier with the fan support in our first game," said General Manager John Rudolph. "We expected a big crowd and the fans gave our players a big boost late in the game when we were playing from behind."
The fans were certainly not starved of any excitement. Despite falling 8-7, the Ice Muskies forced overtime with a game-tying goal by David Ulm with just under two minutes remaining and it took eight shootout rounds before the Evansville Icemen clinched the win.
The Ice Muskies host the Icemen Saturday night at Hartmeyer Arena in game two of the weekend series. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
