ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Sept. 24, 2009 Will Conroy, who last year was a member of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, has been signed to the Houston Rockets training camp roster. The Rockets training camp will begin on Sept. 29.
Were all excited and proud of Will getting an opportunity with the Rockets that he so surely deserves, said Thunderbirds head coach John Coffino. Will is by far an NBA caliber player, and Im certain that hell show that at Houstons training camp. Albuquerque T-Bird fans were very fortunate to have witnessed Wills talent and leadership. We could not have won nearly as many games as we did without him.Conroy averaged 26.5 points and 8.0 assists in 49 games with the Thunderbirds during the 2008-09 NBA Development League season. During the 2006-07 NBA season, Conroy had stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers. Conroy was named to the 2009 All-NBA D-League First Team after leading the league in scoring and finishing sixth overall in assists. He was also awarded the Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award following the 2008-09 season.
