Albany Firebirds News Release
ALBANY, NY â The 2002 Northeast Division Champion Albany ConQuest will be holding their first open tryout for the 2003 arenafootball2 season on Sunday, November 24th at Charbonneau Indoor Soccer Facility in Ballston Spa, NY. Registration begins at 8:00am with the tryout starting promptly at 9:00am and continuing until 11:30am.
All participants must pay a $45.00 non-refundable registration fee, which includes an official ConQuest tryout t-shirt and a ticket to any 2003 regular season home game. Arena football hopefuls will be run through basic combine-type drills, that include a 40-yd timed sprint, short shuttle, bench press (reps of 225 lbs.), agility drills and one-on-one route running for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs.
Head Coach Pete Costanza will be on hand evaluating talent and looking for players to fill a few roster spots that will be left vacant due to players from last year's team moving up to higher levels. Last season the Quest, which finished 14-4, followed the arenafootball2 motto of "Hometown Football" by comprising their entire lineup of players that live within a 2-hour radius of Albany, NY. Players from schools like RPI, U. of Albany, Union College, Boston College and Colgate helped the team finish fifth in af2 in attendance during their inaugural season and claim the best community outreach program in the entire league.
Any interested candidates can register in person the day of the tryout or by logging onto www.albanyconquest.com and filling out the on-line registration form. The ConQuest begin their second season in April 2003. Season tickets are available now for as low as $54. For information call (518) 487-2222...Albany ConQuest 2003...The Quest Continues!
