Albany Firebirds News Release
Albany, N.Y., Jan. 7, 2005 â Following an impressive rookie arenafootball2 season, Albany Conquest kicker Vinny Cirrincione has been granted a tryout with the Buffalo Bills to take place Tuesday morning (Jan. 11).
"This is another reason why Albany is an attractive place for players to be," said Albany Conquest Head Coach Richard Davis. "We are sandwiched between several NFL teams that pay attention to the players we have on the roster. This is a great opportunity for Vinny to have a chance to elevate his professional football playing career."
Cirrincione is the second Conquest player to have been offered a tryout with the Bills since July. Conquest QB D. Bryant had a tryout on July 8, but has not been offered a contract by the Bills to this point.
Cirrincione (known to most as Vinny C.), whose family owns Paesan's Pizzeria, is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., but now resides in Albany, N.Y. He kicked in 13 games for the Conquest last season. Cirrincione ranked 6th in the league in PAT attempts converting 55-of-71 and also kicked nine field goals (9th in af2). His 56-yard field goal on June 6 against Cape Fear was the longest in franchise history.
The Albany Conquest, a proud member of the Arena Football family, are entering their fourth season competing in arenafootball2 which runs from early April through July with playoffs being held in August. The Conquest play their home opener against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on Apr. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Pepsi Arena. Season tickets are on sale now by calling the Albany Conquest offices at (518) 487-2222 or visit www.albanyconquest.com for more information.
