Albany Firebirds News Release

Albany, N.Y., Mar. 2, 2005 – The Albany Conquest of arenafootball2 announced the assignment of three former Big East standouts today. Rookies Jamel Riddle (Syracuse University) and Pete McBride (Temple University) join returnee Steve Cully (University of Connecticut) on the newest list of roster additions for the Albany Conquest.

"These young men are big school guys with big school productivity," said Albany Conquest Head Coach Richard Davis. "We expect them to have the same type of productivity for our team this season."

Riddle (5-8, 180-pounds), an offensive specialist, was 2nd Team All-Big East as a receiver during the 2002 season and had a career-best 176 yards receiving against Rhode Island where he caught an 87-yard touchdown pass (longest in the Big East in 2002). The 23-year old totaled 57 receptions for 963 yards and six touchdowns in his career. He also ranks fifth all-time at Syracuse University with 676 career punt return yards. Riddle was in training camp with the Arena Football League's Chicago Rush earlier this year.

McBride (5-10, 180-pounds), a defensive specialist, led Temple University with four interceptions in 2003. The Mississippi native, who is the cousin of Philadelphia Eagles receiver Todd Pinkston, totaled 35 tackles and two pass deflections in 11 games with the Owls.

Cully (6-4, 325-pounds), a lineman, played in six games with the Conquest during a solid 2004 season. At the University of Connecticut, Cully earned both team MVP and Honorable Mention All-Independent honors, while starting 27 of 33 games during his career. The two-year af2 veteran also went to training camp with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2004.

The Albany Conquest, a proud member of the Arena Football family, are entering their fourth arenafootball2 season. The Conquest play their home opener against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on April 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Pepsi Arena. Season tickets are on sale now by calling the Albany Conquest offices at (518) 487-2222 or by visiting www.albanyconquest.com for more information.
