Connecticut Outlasts Fever on Tuesday Night

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Indiana Fever fell to the Connecticut Sun, who have now won five of its last seven games, 84-62, on Tuesday night. Fever guard Julie Allemand grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in 35 minutes of action, as the Sun took the first of two meetings between the teams. Indiana and Connecticut conclude their season series on Saturday, September 5 at 4 p.m.

Indiana fought all night and trailed 50-49 with 1:54 remaining in the third quarter after a Tiffany Mitchell layup forced a Connecticut timeout. Connecticut held on to a four-point advantage with 7:36 remaining in the game, but would seal the victory with an 18-0 run to follow.

Despite being held scoreless in the first quarter, Kelsey Mitchell capped her night with a team-high 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting. She has scored at least 15 points in all but two games this season for the Fever.

Tiffany Mitchell recorded her ninth double-figure scoring effort with 13 points to go along with five assists and three rebounds.

Natalie Achonwa came off the bench to log the second most minutes of her season, as well as record four blocks against the Sun. The four blocks are the most by a Fever player this season.

Kennedy Burke led the bench in scoring for the third time this season with nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. Burke made her first three shots in a reserve role tonight.
