Conley and Niekro Headed to Rome Braves

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, in conjunction with the Atlanta Braves have announced that shortstop Cal Conley and starting pitcher J.J. Niekro have officially been promoted to High-A Rome. In 75 games this season with the GreenJackets, Conley led the team in home runs with 10 to go along with 40 RBIs. The Augusta shortstop led the team in runs scored with 62 while also stealing 23 bases.
J.J. Niekro led the GreenJackets' pitching staff with a 7-1 record in 15 appearances and 8 starts on the mound. The right-hander was a consistent arm atop the rotation by posting an ERA of 2.09, paired with 77 strikeouts and 17 walks in 73.1 innings. Niekro dealt a team-best three quality starts with a remarkable run of 24 consecutive scoreless innings in June, helping him earn the honors as the Carolina League Pitcher of the Month.
As corresponding moves, Augusta will add Brian Klein who played in 33 games with the GreenJackets before being promoted to Rome on June 28 where he appeared in 8 games for the High-A Club.
Francisco Floyd will also join Augusta from the Florida Complex League as the infielder has started 24 games in Florida with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs in 2022.
The GreenJackets return to SRP Park to play host to the Fredericksburg Nationals (Washington Nationals) for the first time ever starting on Tuesday, July, 12 with Ladies Night at the ballpark to go along with $2 TWOsday and First Responders Tuesday. Wednesday is highlighted by the Corona Bucket Special where fans can get a special, four-pack Corona Bucket for only $20! It's college night, red and black on Thursday featuring a special appearance from wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in addition to Thirsty Thursday. Braves BuzzFest is a special one on Friday as Braves' organist Matthew Kaminski will be attending and will perform throughout the evening. It's also Cliché Christmas where we'll celebrate the merriest holiday in the middle of July! On Saturday, it's the 16th annual Military Appreciation Night with the White Claw Pregame Concert Series featuring Forest O'Quinn. The homestand concludes on Sunday with Dinosaur night and a Back-to-School Drive with the United Way of the CSRA!
