Conference Finals Against Texas Tied 1-1

(Odessa, TX) - The Jackalopes will prepare for games three and four of the Conference Finals against the Texas Brahmas this week at the Ector County Coliseum. The series is currently tied 1-1 after two games.

This week's games: Tuesday vs. Texas (game three), Thursday vs. Texas (game four)

Tuesday at Laredo, 4-3 Win (OT)

The Jackalopes wrapped up their Conference Semifinal series against the Bucks with a 4-3 overtime win last Tuesday. Odessa won the series 4-2, and defeated Laredo in the postseason for the first time in four attempts. Dominic Leveille forced overtime after scoring with 32 seconds left in the game, after Odessa pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. Russ Moyer scored the series clinching goal at 5:48 of overtime.

Friday at Texas, 3-1 Win

The Jackalopes stole game one of the Conference Finals on the road last Friday with a 3-1 win over the Brahmas. Odessa held a 2-1 advantage entering the third period on goals from Jeff Pierce and Jarad Bourassa. Paul Kelly added an empty net goal with 22 seconds left in the third for the insurance marker. Juha Toivonen made 25 saves for his fifth playoff win. Odessa won their fifth consecutive playoff game setting a new franchise record.

Saturday at Texas, 4-1 Loss

Brahmas goaltender, Brett Jaeger, made 42 saves against Odessa to tie the Conference Finals at 1-1 with a 4-1 Texas win. Scott Sheppard and Justin Kinnunen each scored a pair of goals for the Brahmas while Dominic Leveille scored the only goal for the Jackalopes. Alexandre Vincent left the game after two periods, and Juha Toivonen finished by playing the third period.

The Conference Finals continue this week as the series shifts to Odessa for games three and four. The Jacks split the first two games on the goal leaving the series tied 1-1. Dominic Leveille is leading the CHL with 11 points in the playoffs, while goaltender Juha Toivonen is 5-0 with a 2.13 GAA, which is second in the CHL. His five wins are tied for first in this year's playoffs.
