Community Invited to Participate in "Dawgs Bite Hunger Walk-A-Thon"

HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs President and Alternate Governor Stephen Ostaszewicz announced today that on Sunday, May 26, 2013, the community is invited participate in the Bulldogs Foundation's inaugural "Dawgs Bite Hunger Walk-A-Thon" from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Waterfront Trust and on Sarcoa's waterfront patio, located at 47 Discovery Drive in Hamilton. Following the 5 or 10 kilometer walk, Markus from Treehouse TV will be performing and Hamilton's own Brian Melo, winner of the final season of CTV's Canadian Idol, will headline a concert also featuring Freedom Train.

The Bulldogs Foundation's "Dawgs Bite Hunger Walk-A-Thon" is being held in support of the Dawgs Breakfast Program, which allows over 2,000 students at three high-needs Hamilton schools (Barton Secondary School, Bennetto Elementary School and Parkview Secondary School) to start the day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

Participation in the event is FREE. Entrants that collect a minimum of $50 in pledges will be rewarded with a limited edition "Dawgs Bite Hunger Walk-A-Thon" dry fit t-shirt, food and beverages, admittance to the post-walk-a-thon concert and a chance to win great prizes! Participants who collect at least $125 in pledges will receive two free tickets to a 2013-2014 Hamilton Bulldogs home game while those who amass at minimum of $250 in pledges will receive four free tickets to a 13-14 'Dogs home game. In addition, the individual who raises the most money in pledges will win use of a 12-person suite, including tickets, food and beverage, for a 2012-2013 Hamilton Bulldogs home game, while the individuals who collect the second and third-highest amount in pledges will be rewarded with a threesome of golf with a Hamilton Bulldogs player at Piper's Heath Golf Club and autographed, game-used 'Dogs jersey, respectively.
