Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI - The Kansas City Command announced Tuesday the assignment of wide receiver Armand Robinson to the team's roster. Robinson was most recently in training camp with the National Football League's Pittsburgh Steelers after a standout career at Miami of Ohio.

An Arena Football League rookie, Robinson (6-0, 200) appeared in all four preseason games for the Steelers in 2011 after joining the club as an undrafted free agent.

"He's going to be a good player for us," said Command coach Danton Barto. "Athletically he can be an immediate impact guy, we just have to see how quickly he can get comfortable with the playbook."

Robinson finished his four-year career at Miami-Ohio as one of the top receivers in RedHawks history. His 210 career receptions ranks second all-time in school history and his 2,550 career receiving yards is fourth-best all-time. Robinson's mark of 15 career receiving touchdowns is also among the school's all-time top 10. He posted career highs in all three categories as a senior in 2010, including a new program single-season record 94 catches, while earning second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors.

Robinson's senior season featured a school-record 14 catches for 176 yards in the MAC title game against Northern Illinois. Robinson caught the game-winning touchdown pass with 33 seconds left, giving the RedHawks their first MAC title since 2003 and their conference-best 15th title overall.

"He's a good route-runner with very good hands," Barto said. "He's a strong guy with good quickness and good burst. He's got everything you look for in a receiver in this league."

Originally from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Robinson had 78 receptions for more than 1,300 yards his last two seasons at Reynoldsburg High School. He was a two-time first-team all-conference player, and was the South's MVP in Ohio's 2006 North-South All-Star Game. He graduated from Miami in December of 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The Command are coming off a bye week and will play at San Jose this Saturday, April 21 at 9:30pm CDT. The game will air on KSMO-TV 62 Sunday at 1pm and live on Sports Radio 810 WHB.
