Kansas City Comets News Release

Kansas City, KS – The Kansas City Comets announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms with midfielder/defender Ryan DiNunzio. DiNunzio will be available to play when the expansion Monterrey Fury comes to town this Saturday, October 18. Game time at Kemper Arena is 7:35 p.m.

The game will be televised on a tape-delay basis on MetroSports. The Comets-Fury contest will air on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., and Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on KCKN Sports Radio 1340 AM, with Nick Vasos providing the call.

DiNunzio, 23, spent the summers of 2002 and 2003 with the Rochester Raging Rhinos of the A-League. He earned numerous honors while at the University of New Hampshire, including being named to the All-America East Tournament Team as a senior and winning the Walter Weiland Award (Most Dedicated Player) for four consecutive seasons. While at Canisius High School (Buffalo, NY), he scored 38 goals and 131 points and still holds the school record with 55 career assists.

The native of Buffalo stems from veritable indoor soccer royalty: Ryan is the nephew of Bobby and Mike DiNunzio, who combined for 263 goals, 345 assists, and 1,045 blocks in 766 games in this League.

Following this weekend's game, the Comets embark on a four-game road trip that will take the team to St. Louis (October 25), San Diego (November 9), Milwaukee (November 14), and Philadelphia (November 15) before the Philadelphia KiXX visit Kemper Arena on Friday, November 28. All told, the Comets play seven of their next eight games on the road.
