
Comets host Steamers on Saturday

The Comets (11-17) kick off the weekend looking to snap a five-game losing streak with a victory over the St. Louis Steamers (16-13) on Saturday, March 19. The contest will be played at Kemper Arena, and it kicks off at 7:35 p.m.
The Steamers currently lead the season series 1-3 and also hold the all-time record advantage at 7-3. The game is a Family Four-Pack night. Fans can get four end zone reserve tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for only $40! After the game, head to the Hyatt Regency Crown Center for a post-game party at Spectator's. Call the Comets at 816-474-2255 for more information. The Comets only other home game in March is set for Thursday, March 31 against the Milwaukee Wave.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on Metro Sports, starting at 7:30 p.m. It will also be replayed on Metro Sports at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 21 and at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 25.
The Comets conclude the weekend with a trip to face the Cleveland Force (14-13) on Sunday, March 20 at the Wolstein Convocation Center. The game kicks off at 2:05 p.m. The Comets are 2-2 against Cleveland this season. The series has been close with two out of the four games decided in overtime. In the season series, Cleveland holds a slim scoring advantage, out-pacing the Comets 25-23. The Comets lead the all-time series 21-19.
This weekend's games are crucial, as the Comets need to catch a few teams in order to make the 2005 MISL Playoffs. The four teams with the best winning percentage advance to the MISL Semifinals, which begin the weekend of April 29. The Comets are currently in seventh place, three and a half games behind the fourth place Force. They have 11 games left to play.
The Kansas City Comets are members of the Major Indoor Soccer League. The 2004-05 season marks the 24th season of indoor soccer in Kansas City. The Comets play home games at Kemper Arena, located in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. Season tickets, including the Kids Seat Free plan, are now available.
