November 12, 2002 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave's 27-game regular season Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) home winning streak came to end this past Friday night (11/8) as the Kansas City Comets defeated the Wave 9-7. Alex Zotinca's unassisted three-point restart goal at 3:42 of the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as the Comets broke a nine-game Bradley Center losing skid. The loss was Milwaukee's first in eight outings this season and it also snapped a 13-game regular season winning streak dating back to March 23 of last season when the Wave fell at Philadelphia 14-10.
Joe Reiniger led the Wave offensively with four points on one two-point goal and two assists. Reiniger's power play goal at 14:40 of the third quarter had put Milwaukee on top 7-6. Lovelace Ackah and Brian Loftin also scored for the Wave as Kansas City overcame two three-point deficits (3-0, and 5-2) to secure the victory. Comets' goalkeeper Paolo Ceccarelli registered 21saves to anchor the Kansas City defense, which held the Wave to its lowest output of the season. Victor Nogueira had another outstanding effort in the nets for Milwaukee, but like the team took his first loss of the season after seven straight wins to open the campaign.
The Wave will try to rebound against the Baltimore Blast (2-7) and San Diego Sockers (5-4) this weekend. Milwaukee travels to Baltimore to take on the Blast this Friday, November 15 in a 6:35 PM (CDT) contest before returning to the Bradley Center to host the San Diego Sockers the next afternoon, Saturday, November 16 at 1:05. Both games will air on WRRD, 540 AM ("The Word). Call the Wave Office at 414-224-WAVE for more information.
Notes: *The Wave's last regular season home loss prior to Friday's game was a 22-16 setback to the Baltimore Blast on 3/17/01 at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee's last loss at the BC was the 8-6 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Kixx in the final game of the 2002 MISL Championship Series on 5/3/02.

Reiniger is currently sixth on the NPSL / MISL all-time scoring list with 1303 points, just two points behind Dennis Brose (1305) who is fifth on the all-time list. Reiniger, who has scored in every game so far this season, has now scored in 309-of-320 career games.
